The Scrubbies are getting their 5 minutes of fame

Last week, the New York Times contacted me and wanted to feature my scrubbies in their Sunday Styles section. They were going to do a page on hostess gifts and asked if I could Fedex some scrubbies over.
Hell yeah!!!

They are featured this weekend here.

Ok, it's not a big deal. But I am still doing the happy dance!

The trivets appeareth

I made some trivets using some plain cork coasters that I had bought a long time ago and just sitting aimless in my closet. Since I had not painted for awhile, I decided to decorate the trivets with acrylic paint and sealed it with multiple layers of mod podge and Polyurethane sealant for protection and to make it water resistant.

Lately, I've been addicted to the blue/green/brown combination. I also painted a whole bunch of clothespin in that color but it became really tedious and I got bored doing it. I'd rather stay away from monotony.

Here's what I did :
I've listed them here. And I've sold one yesterday ! :)

Crochet needle case

Today I made a crochet needle case for Jessey !!

I struggled with the tension setting and realized later that I did not thread the machine correctly. Duh!

Sewing like a maniac

I don't sew and I used to hate sewing. When I was younger, I've seen my mom sew but I never bothered to learn.
Jason has an antique Singer sewing machine and it's been sitting in the closet untouched. I've decided to experiment with it. Unfortunately for me, it doesn't come with instructions.
After spending 30 minutes trying to thread the needle in (and lots of frustration), I'm on the go. Then the bobbin decides to run out of thread. So I spend another 30 minutes on the internet trying to find some instructions on how to thread a bobbin. I don't think I got that fully right because the tension was all wrong but I managed to get enough thread into the bobbin and plop that thing back into its slot.
Thank God for this website!

So I made myself a knitting needle case. And I'm still alive. And I did not kill anyone. But I have a splitting headache now probably from cursing too much.
