On Saturday, we went to Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius to watch the Dragon Boat Race. We had to park our cars at designated parking lots and hop onto the shuttle bus to take us to the lake. The crowd was huge!
Not only was there the race, but there were many booths selling all kinds of merchandise and food representing various Asian countries, and various stage performances. After the Lion dance, we decided to skip the stage performances and set up our camping chairs closer to the lake to watch the race and enjoy the breeze. (It was a VERY hot day).
Eventhough I have heard of the Dragon Boat Race but I have never watched it before. So this was a new experience for me. The Dragon Boat race dates back more than 2300 years to the southern provinces of China.I was also pleasantly surprised to find food booths selling satay and ketupat (Indonesian style), Taiwanese Bubble tea and Herbal Tea Egg. I ,ofcourse got the Tea Egg :)
Oh, and lots of dogs were enjoying the day at the park too...
